Community Partners: Envision Learning Partners

 

Student-Led 'Ohana Conferences is a new pilot program for SY2013-2014. Based on school community feedback and lessons learned from two years of experience, the Navigators' Center looked for a way to connect parents and guardians more closely to their students education that also put students at the core. We were inspired by the proven impact student-led conferences have had on schools that have adopted this model, and initial feedback from families and staff has been encouraging. Throughout the course of this school year, the Navigators' Center will lead an action research committee of approximately 10 teachers from grades K-12 in developing and implementing student-led conferences at our school. While we will begin with the foundations set by other schools and research, we hope to create a model that fits the unique dynamics of our students, families, and community.
